The philanthropic arm of Google, Google.org are looking to save the world by producing a plug in petrol - electric vehicles that can produce anything up to 100 miles per gallon, this coincides with the large solar power system that they have just installed at the Mountain View campus, said to be powerful enough to supply a 1,000 homes with power.

Energy produced though this way will be used to power the hybrids battery packs and so making the green car even greener as the power does not come from power stations that burn coal, oil or gas.
Yet the concept that Google has is that the hybrids are charged up all day long, but when the vehicle is returned home, it can be plugged into the grid, but instead of drawing from it, the vehicle actually puts power back into the grid and the vehicle owner gets paid for the power, quite interesting and typically Google, who else would think this way.

Google have already produced six vehicles, which will be used as the test for the whole project. The company is investing around ten million dollars into this, which initially would not appear to be much, however this is Google that we are talking about, so who are we to question their methods.
