The people over at Land Rover are in the process of making the finishing touches to the next generation of Land Rovers top of the range model the Range Rover; this is expected to include the inclusion of an all new aluminum body, similar to what is used by Jaguar Motors in the XJ.

The idea behind this is to make the Range Rover models lighter which will have a number of benefits which include the handling and weight reduction, Land Rover are expecting to be able to knock off around 300-400 kegs (650-900 lbs) off of the total weight.
It is believed that by reduce weight this will also in turn reduce the amount of emissions, which again will improve the fuel efficiency of the car. These cars are well known for being gas guzzlers and therefore any improvement in the emissions and economy field will give the Range Rover a whole new lease of life, opening up new markets and therefore hopefully slow down the bad press that these cars get from eco friendly groups.

The all new Range Rover will also be getting a new and improved V8 engine, with fuel injection and even a possible addition of a supercharger, the diesel engine will also have some changes applied and in a move to please those green buyers maybe there will be some sort of hybrid version made available at a later date, this would be the way forward for the Range Rover, which we are expecting to see on the by 2012.
