It would appear that the major players in the car rental market are looking to go green, and we are not talking color here, eco friendly business is going to be key in the choices that people make into who they choose as a provider of the service or product that they are looking for.

To this end Hertz and Avis have announced that they both have plans to offer the eco friendly Toyota Prius as part of their range of cars.

Both companies have ordered one thousand models initially and have plans to order more next year. Hertz plan to offer these in Manhattan and selected airports, while on the other hand Avis will be offer their eco friendly Prius cars on the west coast only.

This all comes after the announcement from Enterprise Rent a Car who recently stated that their car rental fleet is up with 47 per cent of vehicles that are considered as being fuel efficient, considering that they have a fleet of around 700,000 vehicles, that is a quite amazing and makes the 1,000 cars announced by Hertz and Avis look like small fry.
It is great that car rental companies are thinking green, as their vehicles must do thousands of miles more than the average car, and therefore would create overall more emissions.
