Crossovers are the flavor the time at the moment, being a cross between the sedan and the SUV but nut quite being one or the other. Many car makes are trying to bring out their first version of a crossover while Toyota are already getting the second version of the Highlander ready for shipping and have announced the prices for this car that will have a lot more competition than before, from Saturn, GMC, Ford, Mazda, Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda, so it will be down to survival of the fittest.
Based on the Camry the Highlander is four inches longer and three inches wider, and is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that produces around 270 bhp through the five speed automatic gearbox, as for the fuel consumption, using front wheel drive expect to be getting 19 mpg for the city and 25 mpg for the highway.

Pricing for the Highlander range of models:
Base model 4 x 2 $27,300, and the 4 x 4 $28,750.
Sport model 4 x 2 $29,950, and the 4 x 4 $31,400.
Limited model 4 x 2 $32,700 and the 4 x 4 $34,150.
There will also be an announcement of a Hybrid version of the Highlander, which will go on sale in September.
There has been an increase in the delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee, which will be $685.
